Watershed management involves managing a number of complex, interconnected and/or adjoining water systems within the Park that are affected by the Park's landscape features, by climate and weather over time, by natural and man-made control stuctures (dams and weirs), and by the impact of other natural processes in the park such as erosion, impoundment, and so on. Inherent in watershed management is the preservation of water quality, impacted by such man-made factors as pollution, waste management, etc.
CPS has been keenly interested in management of the water level of Waskesiu Lake as one aspect of overall watershed management that we are concerned about, because of its enormous impact on recreational activities and opportunities enjoyed by visitors to the Park. Thus the attention paid by CPS since 2002 to the Waskesiu River dam and its proposed replacement is very much about managing the level of Waskesiu Lake at a height that supports continued recreational access and use, and that is as close to historical levels as possible.
Under this broad management topic, CPS will provide an expanding list of sub-topic links to information from different sources. Check back from time-to-time to see what has been added, or updated.
